Antique Enamel Egyptian Queen Pendant on Blue Enamel Fancy Chainart deco necklace, Egyptian Revival Conversion Necklace

In stock

Unusual and exquisitely detailed, this Egyptian Revival enameled Queen - Female Pharaoh was once a Victorian stickpin. I felt it was very deserving of being converted into a piece more easily enjoyed, so she is now part of a one-of-a-kind necklace...*** Originally $795.00. ***Crafted of solid sterling silver, the pendant features a very detailed and well executed depiction of an Egyptian Queen or Female Pharaoh done in colorful enamel work. Her bail was created from the original pin stem, and she is now suspended on a fancy chain that suits her perfectly. (please note that the chain does not test as silver, though the metal is silver colored with complimentary blue enamel.)Feminine and rosy-cheeked with eyes lightly lined with kohl, the Egyptian Queen wears a Pharaoh's headdress, with stripes of burgundy, white and both light and darker blue. A green neckpiece with silver elements set off by a black enamel band below completes her costume. I love the contrast of her serene expression with the geometric elements of the headdress, as well as the wonderful little engraved details of the silver. The enamel remains in very good condition for it's age, with a little expected wear that can be seen with magnification. Not including the bail, the pendant measures approximately 21 x 15 mm (approximately 7/8 of an inch x 5/8 of an inch); with the good sized bail, the total drop length measures approximately 30 mm or just over 1 and 1/8 of an inch. No hallmarks are present, though there are some informally engraved/scratched letters on the reverse. I have tested the piece to confirm the silver. I believe there was likely once gilding on the piece - some remains on the edges of the pendant and on the back where the pin stem was once attached. The detail of the fancy linked chain is just perfect with this Egyptian pendant. I'd been waiting to find just the right piece for this charming old chain...despite it not testing as silver, it is very lovely. Long links with "x" and milgrain like detailing alternate with blue enameled links. Even the central connecting links are detailed with a linear pattern, creating lots of interest. Measuring approximately 21 inches long, including the old silver spring ring/bolt ring clasp, the pendant hangs from the center link. No marks are present, and there is definitely some wear to the enamel, which I find gives the chain even more character. I think it dates to the Art Nouveau to early Deco period.Together the pendant and chain weigh a nice 10.25 grams.A very special necklace, I am delighted to offer this unique, one-of-a-kind piece to you...- Please write with any questions and Thanks for looking - *** To see other lovely pieces in my ever changing collection of vintage and antique jewelry, please visit my shop where I list new items every day or two...and follow me on Instagram for first peek at my new finds:[email protected]_vintage_jewels, blue enamel chain
